01

Child Safety First Policy

Children's safety always takes priority over convenience, personal activities, or schedules.

Babysitters must maintain active supervision, anticipate and minimize risks, make decisions in the child's best interest, and follow parent instructions unless they create a safety concern.

Supervision by age:

  • Infants (0–12 months) — constant visual and auditory supervision; never left on elevated surfaces.
  • Toddlers (1–3 years) — continuous supervision; stay within sight.
  • Preschoolers (3–5 years) — frequent monitoring; supervised outdoors.
  • School-age (6–12 years) — regular check-ins; awareness of location and activities.
02

Emergency Response Policy

Babysitters must remain calm, move children away from immediate danger, assess the situation, and contact the appropriate emergency service without delay when a child or another person faces serious or life-threatening harm.

After urgent assistance is requested, the babysitter must notify the parent or guardian and Dainty Care as soon as safely possible. Every accident, injury, missing-child concern, fire, security incident, or emergency medical response must be documented accurately.

  • Know the care address, exits, emergency contacts, and first-aid supplies before the parent leaves.
  • Provide first aid only within your training and competence.
  • Never delay emergency care while waiting for a parent to respond.
  • Do not conceal, minimize, or alter details of an incident.
03

Health & Hygiene

Caregivers must follow the family's disclosed health, allergy, food safety, sleep, toileting, and hygiene instructions. Hands should be washed at appropriate times, food should be prepared safely, and age-appropriate hygiene should be maintained without shaming or unnecessary exposure.

Medication may be given only with clear parent instructions, correct labeling and dosage, and when the caregiver understands and is permitted to perform the task. Any error or unexpected reaction must be treated as a safety incident and reported immediately.

  • Do not provide unapproved food, medicine, supplements, or home remedies.
  • Keep medicines, cleaning products, sharp objects, and choking hazards secured.
  • Follow safe sleep guidance and never use unsafe sleep surfaces or positions.
  • Inform the parent promptly about fever, vomiting, breathing difficulty, injury, or unusual behavior.
04

Professional Conduct

Babysitters must be punctual, sober, attentive, respectful, appropriately dressed, and focused on childcare throughout the booking. Professional boundaries apply to every interaction with children, family members, visitors, and Dainty Care staff.

  • No alcohol, illegal drugs, smoking, vaping, or impairing substances before or during care.
  • No sleeping while responsible for children unless an approved overnight arrangement explicitly allows rest and safe supervision remains possible.
  • No unauthorized visitors, personal errands, transport, or changes to the agreed care location.
  • Personal phone use must be limited to care, parent communication, emergencies, or essential brief use when children remain safely supervised.
  • Never use humiliating language, threats, corporal punishment, intimidation, or inappropriate physical contact.
05

Child Protection

Dainty Care has zero tolerance for abuse, neglect, exploitation, grooming, harassment, or any conduct that places a child at risk. Caregivers must maintain appropriate physical and emotional boundaries and must never ask a child to keep unsafe or inappropriate secrets.

A disclosure, unexplained injury, concerning behavior, unsafe home condition, or reasonable suspicion of harm must be taken seriously. The caregiver should listen calmly, avoid leading questions, record only factual observations, and report through Dainty Care's safeguarding process and to the appropriate authority where required.

06

Technology & Media

Children may use devices only as authorized by the parent and in an age-appropriate, safely supervised way. Caregivers must not expose children to harmful content, share private account details, or use a child's image or information for personal purposes.

Photos, video, audio, livestreams, location tags, and social media posts involving a child, home, or family are prohibited without clear prior parent permission. A photo approved for a private care update may not be saved, forwarded, or posted publicly.

07

Reporting Concerns

Safety concerns should be reported promptly to Dainty Care. Immediate danger or suspected criminal conduct should also be reported to the appropriate emergency or child-protection authority. Retaliation against anyone who raises a good-faith safeguarding concern is prohibited.

Serious or repeated violations may result in removal from a booking, suspension, termination, reporting to authorities, or other action needed to protect children and families. For safety questions or reports, contact [email protected] or +233 54 598 5633.
